Nashville is home to music, country, acoustic, rock, blues, jazz and more. Visitors arriving at BNA airport often head to the Nashville Riverfront. Within just a few city blocks, you can find live music to suit almost anyone's taste. There are also amazing barbeque restaurants, vinyl record shops, and a Hard Rock Cafe. A few steps away on Fifth Street, the famous Ryman Auditorium continues to be a favorite destination. By day, there are tours of the original Grand Ole Opry. At night there are concerts featuring everything from bluegrass to popular mainstream acts such as the band Coldplay.
Nashville's biggest attraction may be a copy, but it's still amazing. In Centennial Park, a full-size replica of the Parthenon has been wowing visitors for over 100 years. Just a few years ago, artists produced a full-size, gold-covered statue. Now the Greek Goddess Athena looks down on visitors as she did, once upon a time, in the original. A collection of fine art is located on the bottom level. Nashville is also home to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, a world-class art museum.
The Nashville Zoo is a favorite for families. Among the zoo's special exhibits are an aviary of Australian parrots and a Giraffe savannah. It also offers a carousel and the Jungle Gym playground with 66,000 square feet of swinging, climbing, exploring fun.
History buffs are among the quarter of a million visitors every year to the Hermitage. This 1000-acre plantation was home to the 7th president, Andrew Jackson. Home tours and a museum tell the story of Tennessee's past.
For upscale shopping, a favorite destination is The Mall at Green Hills. This two-floor mall hosts 100 stores and lots of high end merchandise. Another favorite is CoolSprings Galleria in nearby Franklin.
A favorite among shoppers and tourists, the Opry Mills Mall was closed for several years due to the Nashville flood. It has reopened. It features a large Bass pro shop, XXI Forever, Off 5th Saks Fifth Avenue, and a Vanity Fair outlet among its many stores. Nearby the Grand Ole Opry seats thousands for a grand old time with country music legends and rising stars. The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center is a major destination for its accommodations and its amazing atriums. At docks nearby, riverboats offer entertainment, too, as well as views of Nashville from the water.
